About This Course

The Hadith course provides an introduction to the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). With Barequlquran Academy the course will cover authentic Hadith collections and their meanings.

What is Hadith?

The Prophetic Sunnah, known as Hadith, is the second fundamental source of Islamic legislation, after the Quran. It serves to clarify and elaborate on the teachings of the Quran. Allah Almighty has described the Hadith as a form of revelation, complementing the Quran by explaining its meanings in practice.

The study of Hadith is approached in stages, starting with introducing beginners to key teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, then advancing to memorization and understanding of essential Islamic principles, and finally analyzing the authenticity of hadiths. This learning process includes interactive exercises and studying authoritative texts. The goal is to cultivate love for and emulation of the Prophet’s life and teachings while recognizing the critical role of the Sunnah in Islamic life.

Levels of Hadith Learning

  1. Basics: This stage is characterized by an interactive approach to learning hadiths. Selected sayings of the Prophet are introduced alongside activities and exercises that help students understand fundamental beliefs, worship practices, and ethics.
  1. Intermediate: At this level, students study the well-known collection “Al-Arba’in An-Nawawiyyah” (The Forty Hadiths of Imam Nawawi). Each hadith is explored comprehensively, with explanations that cover word meanings, context, and moral lessons that can be derived from them.
  1. Advanced: This stage focuses on the science of Hadith criticism and the study of hadith authenticity. Students learn the terminology of Hadith sciences, examine the chain of narrators (Isnad), and analyze the text (Matn) to determine a hadith’s validity. Additionally, they explore major collections of Hadith, understanding how these sources were compiled and how hadiths can be authenticated and used to deduce rulings.
